Beta Testers

New Beta Site:
www.angelaacevedo.com/ver3

NOTES:
• Browse through as many sections as possible
• Sections in question, Design Studio & Blog.
• There are still few kinks to work out example, MUSIC section.
• The site features not only my design work, but music and life blog.
• There aren’t many posts just yet, til we work out some things.

QUESTIONS:
• Is everything pretty easy to find? If not, why?

• How’s the navigation? Quick or complicated?

• What would you like to see featured?

• Are blog posts easy to access?

• Were you able to find the “drag and share” feature on images in posts? Would you use this?

• Is the design clean enough that allows the work to be featured? Is it too simple and boring?

• What would you add to the site to make it easier to navigate?

• Have you seen something on other designers sites or inspirational blogs that you’d like to see here?

• Would you recommend the site? If not, what would it take for it to meet your standards of recommendation?

• Would you download the free mixsets in the MUSIC section?

• If you had some extra mula aka cash aka dinero, would you purchase posters, apparel from the shop?

• Anything else you may want to rant about?

    QUESTIONS:
    • Is everything pretty easy to find? If not, why?
Yes it was easy to get around and find everything.

    • How’s the navigation? Quick or complicated?
Navigation is pretty quick. It threw me off at first when the main headings like apparel, blog, etc would give a sub menu. At first I was waiting for a page change instead of needing to click of the submenu, but after I realized it, then it wasn’t a deal.

    • What would you like to see featured?
Maybe some how to’s being you have a wide variety of talents that you have under you belt. Pro’s and con’s of the things you do in those areas. I know you have done a few online instructions or demo’s before. Some may find it interesting and helpful. Just have to add as I went to check this next question out, I saw the how to’s blog ;)

    • Are blog posts easy to access?
    Yes

    • Where you able to find the “drag and share” feature on images in posts? Would you use this?
Yes, I saw this on part of the site, then went to photography think it may have applied there, but see those do not have that ability. Didn’t know if was supposed to be sitewide or not. Yes, I think I would use it.

    • Is the design clean enough that allows the work to be featured? Is it too simple and boring?
I think it has a clean design that isn’t too simple and yet not to crazy. It seems to shoot right in the middle.

    • What would you add to the site to make it easier to navigate?
Possible on the main headings that they may go to a main splash page for that heading other than just dropping down the sub menu. I may just be me, but it did throw me off till I saw the pattern.

    • Have you seen something on other designers sites or inspirational blogs that you’d like to see here?
Nothing comes to mind at this time.

    • Would you recommend the site? If not, what would it take for it to meet your standards of recommendation?
    Yes I would recommend it.

    • Would you download the free mixsets in the MUSIC section?
Yes.. I believe I have them already from fnflive ;)

    • If you had some extra mula aka cash aka dinero, would you purchase posters, apparel from the shop?
Maybe some shirts or something like that down the road. It isn’t something I do a whole lot anyways.

    • Anything else you may want to rant about?
Naw.. we get a sneek peek at the fnf site you are working on? ;)

I love it man, simple and fresh, really the only suggestion I have is for the photography section I think people are more likely to browse through your images if you have for example a lightbox gallery where they could slide through them seamlessly. It’s a free plugin you can activate in your wordpress dashboard – but other than that perfect

Everything’s easy to find. What i would suggest is putting music before blog-
so you’d have: design•photography•apparel•music•blog (the first three are visually related, then music (aural), then blog.

navigation is a little slow- but that will always be co-dependent on the viewers browsers. wait to gain a bit more feedback on this part.

    blog posts are a-ok!

didn’t see the drag and share feature the first time i went thru it- but it showed up on refresh. i’m not sure if i would use it per se- i would just forward your site to someone. they should see all your work! :)

the design is clean enough for the work to be focused on… not boring to me- but then again i focus on the content more. if i can click and get there we’re good. ;)

i wouldn’t add a thing really… maybe an ABOUT YOU page?? ahem. couldn’t find it.

i want to see YOUR stuff. YOUR work. if i see it on another designer’s page- leave it there. YOU’RE the one i’m concentrating on if i’m on your page. maybe some experimental work… or your video blogs? collaborations with other designers… (hint)

i would recommend this hands down.

i would download the mixes why not. can we preview them first? didn’t get to that part yet.

i would purchase your stuff. i would even feature you on our blog- or in our store… :)

i’ve already told you how proud of you i am… so the only thing i have left to say is BRAVO! and my G*D you have the skinniest hairiest legs in miami.

    :) xo

    Angel,

Congrats on your new site. I can see you’ve spent many hours working on it. I’ve tried to go through every section on here and I have some notes. Please feel free to take or leave any of my comments. I guess I’ll start where I started:

Design Studio: My first impression was I was not sure what to click on or not click on. I was afraid each little box was going to take me to a new page and I didn’t want to keep navigating back and forth through pages to see your work. I also was a little confused as to what was what– i.e. I wanted to see some headers or categories to break up what was there a little so I knew what was a video, what was packaging design, what was identity, etc. Visually, I thought it was very tasteful I think you have a nice look going.

Music: Pretty straight forward, I could go for a little description of WHY you have music on your design site… If I didn’t know you were a DJ I’d probably think you were bootlegging or reselling CDs. I was also a little confused by the “view post” button. I couldn’t tell what that was going to be about. Maybe “read more” is more appropriate.

Photography: I feel this section is the roughest section. I think you have a lot to work on here; namely: 1. you have way too many photos to choose from, you are going to want to break that up visually. I appreciate the fact that you have a lot of photos, but as a client or fan I don’t need to see that. I want to see your best 10 or your best 15. You also have 3 different ways to navigate through the photos on this page. I can click any of the photos that are open at the top, OR open an album from the sections in grey, OR open one of the 30 albums below that. That’s just too many. I don’t think Flickr API is the way to go here. Unless you are going to create a Flickr set JUST for your website. It’s just too much.

Finally the blog. I’d really like to JUST get into the blog instead of having to choose a category first. I waited for a few seconds thinking I was on my way before I noticed the sub-menu. Once in the blog though, PERFECTION. Except I would have the sub-navigation category choices always visible once IN the blog so that I can just change categories with one click.

Hope that’s helpful my man. Looking good!

Angel — Most everything is very easy to find, very user friendly. All in all it was a very informative site (other than the fact that you don’t have a page about you!) The site is very clean and compliments your work well

The drag and share function I think needs to be more readily known that it is there… The pages where it is available on I would make it known… otherwise I think of it just as a banner

As far as your music I already have downloaded them and listen to them on occasions while working on my own design.

Buying stuff?? (Oh now you just wanna hit me up for my money!!! I see… You try and help out a friend… HAHA. Just kidding man….) Definitely…. I still want one of those God is a Designer shirts…

The photography I think there is A LOT going on… Way too many ways to access content in this section and I think it is WAY too much content. I would break it up into sections for each type of photography (with like you best 10-12 images for each category) and make it easy to navigate… Not sure the Flickr API is the best bet for your website.

I fell you don’t need the submenu for the blog, I would rather get into the blog quickly and be able to choose from a list of categories then to have way too many click thrus to get to want I want.

But all in all a great job on the website… I can tell you and Dan have put together a major amount of time on this puppy and can’t wait to see where it goes from here!

Looks good. If anything Id slight ly track the copy on the info sections and in the my faves pics replace the blue copy links for something more suitable to the sites design. Overall you ready to conquer.
