iPad’s Interactive Mags by Alexx Henry

Like many, I was an iPad skeptic. But after seeing the work of Alexx Henry, I think I might just give it a chance. He stretches the limits and creativity of what can be done with these “interactive magazines” for Apple’s new iPad.

Relevant Magazine – Issue 40

Was hired to brand the MOVIE GUIDE with a typetreatment of sorts also to do a spread on “Insert Soul Here.” I decided to use the elements originally used for a poster I created (Hearts of Eternity). You can view it here.

Rhema Soul – “Fingerprints”

This project was particularly fun. I was hired for creative direction in photography and design (album, promos, merch table etc) and given creative freedom from concept to finish. I went on a road trip with the band and took dozens of photos for the album along with a photoshoot I did with David Moreno (http://www.dajophotography.com) at an amazing house.

I created a bold type-treatment that they can use on stage and on all promotional products. Simple yet strong enough to be recognizable.

This was their sophomore album, more mature than their previous, so I chose a scheme that would translate and compliment the music they produced.

This was a final for my Publication Design course at Ai. I worked with a team (classmates) as team leader. Most of the layout was done by me along with input from Christian Rosario. Several ads were done by the rest of the team.

• A “newspaper” with no boundaries
• Layout design was open.

• Typefaces – American Typewriter / Rotis Sans-serif (main)
• Special feature of band, Family Force 5
